PROJECT MANAGER

Job Description:

The Project Manager position is responsible for directing the planning, coordination, and safe execution of jobs in accordance with the contract documents, schedule and budget, delivering projects to the forecasted margin. The primary focus of this position is to plan, organize, direct and control the activities of construction projects, working closely with the management team. While this position works under some supervision, the employee is expected to be able to work independently.

Job Duties:

Working to direct a team of Superintendents and Forepersons, the position will be responsible for:

1 - Leadership:

  • Accountable for the overall engagement, productivity, turnover and strength of the team.

  • Works in a collaborative and constructive manner with team and cross functional partners.

  • Enthusiastically promotes the company culture.

 

2 - Administration:

  • Provide essential leadership, management and coaching of Remediation and Demolition staff.

  • Be accountable and manage the successful execution of a portfolio of projects in accordance with the scope, schedule and budget from start to finish.

  • Direct the activities of all operational staff and monitor the performance of subcontractors.

  • Attend various start-up, progression and close-out in-house and client meetings as required.

  • Work with the Health & Safety Department to develop and maintain safety and quality control plans and programs.

  • Ensure all projects are completed with worker Health & Safety as the utmost priority.

  • Complete site safety inspections as required.

  • Support team with the preparation of contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with consultants, clients, suppliers and contractors.

  • Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules.

  • Complete monthly progress billing for all projects and update/review with the General Manager.

  • Review all progress invoices and ensure they are issued on a timely basis and follow up on any outstanding accounts.

 

3 - Requirements:

  • College, University or equivalent work experience in a related discipline (i.e. Construction/Project Management);

  • Minimum of 7 years' project management experience, with a minimum of 5 years experience in Demolition/Remediation projects.

  • Outstanding leadership and organizational skills with the ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of client, project and technical issues to bring the project to successful completion.

  • Ability to analyze and evaluate complex problems and to plan and lead multidisciplinary teams to execute demolition solutions.

  • Knowledge of environmental legislation, standards, and guidelines related to demolition.

  • Knowledge of the engineering design, tender, and construction management processes and related contractual conditions for a variety of demolition technologies.

  • Ability achieves results through others.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Willingness to be adaptable and flexible to changing and competing priorities.

 

4 - Work Conditions:

  • Manual dexterity required.

  • Interacts with employees, management, and the public at large.

  • Sitting, standing, bending, and walking.

  • Overtime may be required.

 

5 - Additional Information:

Work requires frequent travel to work sites to monitor the progress of work and to meet with Site Superintendents/Forepersons and/or Clients.
